Air-Defense DrillOn September 19, our school organized all students to participate in air defense knowledge learning.Upon hearing the alarm, fourth graders quickly and orderly evacuated from their classrooms to safe areas in just three minutes, demonstrating strong discipline and emergency responsiveness. Other grade levels learned to identify three types of alarm signals—pre-warning, air raid, and all-clear—by watching educational videos and listening to recordings. They also acquired essential escape and self-protection skills.This activity effectively improved the school’s emergency response capacity and strengthened campus safety preparedness, translating safety education into concrete practice.

SABK Parent Committee MeetingLast week, SABK successfully held a Parent Committee meeting. During the session, members actively engaged in interactions, expressing their expectations and aspirations for the new semester by posting notes, while also reflecting on the achievements and shortcomings of the previous semester. The meeting effectively enhanced communication and trust between home and kindergarten, further promoting the implementation of the parent-kindergarten collaboration mechanism. Primary and secondary elective course selectionOn September 14, SABS launched the Sunshine Course enrollment for its primary and secondary students. As a key part of SABS's distinctive education program, the daily afternoon elective courses cover six major fields: Language Culture, Sports Health, Instrumental Music, Arts Performance, Inquiry Practice, and Technology Innovation. Nearly 180 courses are offered for students to choose from.Shortly after enrollment began, many classes filled quickly due to high demand, reflecting students’ strong interest in diverse learning pathways. This semester’s Sunshine Course continues to emphasize developing strengths and respecting interests, aiming to broaden horizons and tap into potential through a rich curriculum, empowering well-rounded and personalized student development.

Public welfare projectRain Jiang, a graduate of the Class of 2024, has been fundraising since last December for his self-initiated Hope School project, which aims to build dream classrooms in rural schools. He has raised 230,000 RMB in donations from compassionate netizens and companies. All funds have been put to practical use, including installing air conditioners, renovating classrooms, and equipping smart screens. The remaining donations will cover five years of maintenance and provide courses in arts and information technology for left-behind children lacking family support.His video series has gained over 10 million views on TikTok. He was also invited to speak at TikTok’s headquarters about his public welfare project, standing out as the only independent creator of a charity initiative present.Rain has always been an outstanding representative of SABS. His story serves as an inspiration not only to students but also to us educators, reminding us to persist in kindness and altruism to benefit all students.

Social responsibilityThis summer, three high school students demonstrated strong social responsibility through action. They participated in the Shanghai-Qinghai pairing assistance program, engaged in community volunteer services, and shared ethnic culture with children in remote mountain areas.Through these activities, they built genuine friendships, enhanced their leadership skills, and, most importantly, proved that the unity and strength of young people can truly drive change in the world.We hope all SABS students can contribute within their capacity to the prosperity and development of our community and society.
